Softball - Fall 2011

Commissioner
Steve Baker

For the 2011 fall season, NWLL is offering softball through our partner league, Capitol City Little League (CCLL). CCLL is now offering three divisions of recreational softball: 10U, 12U and 14U. This is a recreational softball league with an emphasis on skills development, teamwork and having fun. Girls of all skill levels are encouraged to sign-up and learn softball in a positive and safe environment. All girls who register will be placed on a team. Registration and additional softball information can be found at www.capcityll.org.

In addition, Cap City is now supporting a Northwest DC-based 14U softball travel team, the DC Dinosaurs. The "Dinos" is the perfect team for girls serious about softball who are either looking for their first travel experience or have played on "B" or "C" level travel teams. The Dinos successfully completed their inaugural spring 2011 season and is currently seeking players for the 2011-2012 season. All spots are open to new and current players. Players interested in moving to a higher level of softball and joining a fun group of girls can contact team manager Amy Thompson at mrsamythompson@netscape.net. Groups of girls (and/or coaches) looking to register an entire softball team in CCLL can do so by coordinating with NWLL's Softball Commissioner.

For younger girls (9 and under), NWLL suggests T-Ball (ages 5-6) or AA baseball (ages 7-8), where girls can begin to play baseball and receive coaching in the basics of hitting, throwing and catching.
